If I could only talk, the historic tales that I would tell! The original adobe structure (front 2 rooms of today's house) was found on the 1885 map undertaken in the 1884 to present to President U.S. Grant who deeded 320 acres to the townsmen of Tularosa. This home is located in the original historic 49 Blocks with irrigation ditch water rights. Pumpkin Pine was ordered from the East coast to install over the original dirt floors. The kiva and extra thick adobe walls helped keep both rooms at a constant temperature. The adobe walls were laid so that the walls are "extra thick" because residents had to defend themselves from the Indian raids. The adobe was restored and additions added in 2008.
